Hello guys, Snapseed has been one of the finest editing tools in Android and in this tutorial, let us see how to create a Color Splash.

So what's exactly a Color splash?

A color splash is an effect that turns a full colored photo into a black and white photo with an isolated area of color, just like a splash. This effect adds a little drama and dimension to your photos.

Now let us see how to create this effect through Snapseed.

  • Open the image to be edited in Snapseed.
  • Go to Tools - Black and White
  • There are various presets in black and white like Neutral, Contrast, Bright, Dark, Film, etc.
  • Select the required profile and choose the appropriate brightness, contrast and grain for the image.
  • Once you find the B/W effect, select the tick at the bottom right corner. The below image is for your reference.
  • Now select the icon next to the share button.
  • Select View edits, in Black and White, choose the brush option.
  • Now rub off the areas to be black in the photo.
  • You can zoom in the image and in case you want to erase the selection area, reduce Black and White to 0 (from 100)
  • Tick!
  • Voila! Now you have achieved a beautiful color splash effect. Your resultant image should look somewhat like this.
